JOB SUMMARY

This position assists the Apprenticeship Lab Assistant in supporting the Construction Apprenticeship program by helping manage lab resources, preparing instructional materials, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace.

This is a part-time position of no more than 20 hours per week. Preference will be given to candidates who qualify for Federal Work Study.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Apprenticeship Lab Assistant in tracking and distributing supplies such as lumber, screws, nails, adhesives, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for students and staff.
  • Help issue and receive materials and equipment for student use in lab and classroom settings; maintain records and ensure the timely return of items.
  • Assist with setting up classes and preparing instructional materials, including study aids and equipment for demonstrations.
  • Aid in assembling supplies, constructing apparatus, and setting up classroom experiments.
  • Support inventory management by helping to maintain records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and assist in preparing inventory reports and requisitions.
  • Assist with storing, organizing, and procuring supplies and equipment as needed; ensure that storage and work areas are clean and orderly.
  • Help ensure all lab equipment is accessible, in working condition, and accompanied by accurate documentation.
  • Assist with checking in/out lab equipment and ensure proper handling and usage.
  • Help clean and organize lab areas, including prep areas, and assist with the proper storage of equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with campus facilities to support routine inspections and testing of equipment as needed.
  • Provide support during lab instruction sessions as required.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
  • Dependable, honest, responsible, punctual
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience using basic hand tools (wrenches, pliers, etc.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a current student at Klamath Community College


Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and moving throughout the work shift
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, reach overhead, and perform tasks in various physical positions
  • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment
  • The work environment is indoors and outdoors
  • Outdoor work may involve exposure to various weather conditions (rain, sun, wind, etc.)
  • The environment may include loud noises, dust, and other elements associated with construction projects
