This job is located in Klamath Falls, OR reporting to the office each day.
Who you are: You are starting your journey to learn about forestry and land management. You may have a 2- or 4-year degree in forestry or a degree in another type of Natural Resource related field. You like being outdoors in the fresh air. You may have worked a summer or two and gained some experience in tree planting, wildlife training, timber cruising, GIS work or logging. Regardless of your experience you are eager to learn and ready to work hard every day.
What the job is: Under the guidance of the Forestry Manager this position supports a wide variety of layout tasks associated with the design of specific harvest units and location /design of roads associated with those units.
Here are some examples of the daily work related to the job:
* Flags boundaries, stream protection zones, property lines, wildlife retention areas, wildlife key habitat features (green trees, snags, ponds, seeps etc.), and tree marking.
* Performs field reconnaissance and reports any issues or problems to the responsible District Forester who provides further guidance and resolution to field layout design.
* Documents and records the technical information related to each Harvest Plan in a concise and accurate manner.
* Assists in miscellaneous forestry functions, such as burning, tree planting and firefighting.
* Participates actively in Company safety program.
* Conducts stocking surveys and other plantation monitoring activities according to state compliance standards and/or Company standards.
* Update forestry databases with a high level of accuracy.
* Produce accurate, comprehensive and clear maps using ArcMap and other GIS mapping programs.

Compensation:
The hourly rate for this job is $20.00. This is a seasonal position normally lasting from April to early November 2023 working a 40-hour week, however we are flexible on start and end dates for the right candidate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* This position is located in Klamath Falls, OR.
* Works primarily (90%+) of the time in the field under varying topography and climatic extremes.
* Ability to orient, climb, and traverse steep rugged, densely vegetated terrain on a consistent basis in sometimes harsh weather conditions for long periods of time.
* Must have ability to work independently and without immediate supervision in remote areas.
* Works in conditions that may expose employee to fire, wildlife encounters, reptiles and/or insect bites.
* Mandatory travel to remote company locations.
* Ability to tour logging operations, attend training and company functions.
* Must maintain punctual and regular attendance and present appropriate professional appearance at all times.
* Requires the use of standard safety equipment in regulation with GDRCo.
* This position may be exposed to pollen, dust and pesticides.
