General Position Summary

The Klamath County Sheriff's Office is looking for Deputies to staff both the Corrections Department and the Patrol Department. The Corrections Deputy maintains security, manages and supervises inmates in the Klamath County Jail. The Patrol Deputy enforces and prevents violations of state and local traffic, criminal and civil laws and ordinances in order to protect life and property and provide safety to the community served.

Education, Certification, & Experience
  • Oregon Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • 21 years of age
  • Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic Certification, which must be obtained within one year after employment. Must possess physical capabilities as demanded by DPSST
  • First Aid Certificate, required upon DPSST Certification and periodic renewal thereafter
  • CPR Certification, required upon DPSST certification and periodic renewal thereafter
  • Ability to be sworn as a Police Officer in accordance with Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 181.610-181.990
  • Current or recent experience as a Police Officer, Corrections Officer, or Police Reserve Officer is desirable but not required
Salary and Work Schedule

Corrections Deputy - This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $27.03 - $36.20 per hour, depending on experience. Patrol Deputy - This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $27.84 - $37.32 per hour, depending on experience. The normal work schedule is 8.00 hours per day, 5 days a week; 10.00 hours a day, 4 days per week; or 12.00 hours per day, 3-4 days per week. Exact schedules are assigned by management and likely to include weekends and holidays.
