QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Possession of valid Oregon driver's license; Excellent driving record and ability to be insured by the hospital's auto insurance policy; Ability to work independently without constant supervision; Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors and staff and others they may come into contact with, in a pleasant and constructive manner; Ability to prioritize workload to meet needs of in-house requesters in a timely manner; Ability to take direction from lead, manager or director regarding work activities and procedures; Ability to transport and work with all age groups; Good knowledge of body mechanics; Successful completion of on-the-job training program or applicable experience and demonstrated competence.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Assisting with moving patients and visitors (up to 300 lbs.) to shuttle cart or from shuttle cart to wheelchair and back. Have a full range of body motion by being able to bend, twist, lift, push and pull. Capable of sitting or driving up to 10 hours a day. Be able to handle stressful situations and help diffuse them.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for transporting patients and visitors to and from the hospital parking lot using the shuttle vehicle.
• Responsible for storage and operation of shuttle vehicle(s). Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner. Performs safety checks on shuttle vehicle(s) at beginning of the workday. Safety checks documented and submittal of any maintenance required to Engineering. Responsible for the cleanliness of shuttle vehicle(s).
• Assist Safety and Security department by monitoring parking lot for parking violations and vandalism. Will coordinate to report violations or incidents.
• Cooperates in a positive and professional manner in assisting department personnel as required.
• Promotes positive work environment by taking personal responsibility for establishing good working relationships with co-workers, other hospital staff and outside contacts. Effectively communicates with all personnel. Promotes an honest, direct approach to problem solving and communication of concerns. Is pro-active and works well in a team environment to resolve conflicts.
• Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to Dress and Grooming Policy of the Transport department and Sky Lakes Medical Center. Maintains competency in all position responsibilities
• Sets a positive and professional atmosphere for patients. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer. Actively practices good safety habits to prevent on-the-job injury.
• Demonstrates competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization. This will be apparent by ongoing completion of any or all of the following: proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
• Provide patient care and performs tasks using job skills and growth and develop knowledge specific to the patient's age and/or developmental level.
