The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Force Protection Officer. This is a permanent full-time state position located at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees' (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing Provide Resource Protection and Security services to the Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base, to effectively secure and protect mission essential operational resources, State and Federal property and personnel assigned to host/tenant units. Incumbent enforces Federal, State, Air Force, Air National Guard and Kingsley Field regulations in order to preserve the peace, good order and discipline to protect life, limb and government property.
Working Conditions Incumbent is subject to work overtime with as much notice as possible, at any time the Resource Protection mission requires or at any time directed by the 173d Security Forces Manager or other 173 SFS management staff. On a daily basis, incumbent is required to bear firearms in the performance of duty and is also required to perform those duties in all weather conditions, regardless of time of day. Incumbent is required to work outside and maybe exposed to noxious fumes such as vehicle and aircraft exhaust on a daily basis. Works in extreme high noise area (flightline) and firing range. Incumbent responds to hazardous materials incidents, fires or medical emergencies as outer perimeter security and evacuates personnel.
What You Need to Qualify An Associate degree in law enforcement.

Eighteen months of armed law enforcement or security service experience which included: interpreting and applying security and public safety regulations, policies and procedures; interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects; and writing investigative reports of findings.
Military training in a police occupation specialty may substitute for six months of experience.

Employees must obtain and keep a Department of Defense security clearance at the secret level and maintain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.

Additional Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Conditions of Employment
Candidates must complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation and drug screen prior to official job offer.
To retain employment incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DOD SECRET security clearance and eligibility to obtain a USAF Restricted Area Badge.
The Lautenberg Amendment requires NCIC checks at initial employment and on an annual basis thereafter.
Incumbent shall not have been convicted of a felony crime that would show cause of concern if the individual performed law enforcement or security protection duties.
Must certify JOB/TASK knowledge and performance on a yearly basis as required in accordance with Air Force Regulations or when substandard performance warrants special certification testing.
Certifications must be accomplished within three attempts of loss of certification.
Must certify on assigned duty weapon(s) upon initial employment and as required, thereafter incumbent must qualify with three (3) attempts.
Incumbent must wear the Military Department Resource Protection uniform while in the performance of assigned duties as prescribed in the set grooming standards.
Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM's, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
